On 27th June 2023 at 18. 00, in the frames of the Traditional Crafts Week, the Regional Centre Sofia – UNESCO will present the project “The Living Heritage of Traditional Bulgarian Cuisine” funded by the Programme for Restoration and Development of Private Cultural Organizations of the National Culture Fund.
Traditional Bulgarian cuisine is an important topic because it reveals social relations, significant moments in the calendar, and long-lasting links of local communities with the natural environment, and is an important element of the local cultures. The project interprets the living heritage of traditional cuisine in a photographic exhibition, digital catalogue and short films. The emphasis is on experience, and creativity in maintaining tradition and its transmission, communication and sharing as a living heritage.
After the first event aimed at the promotion of the project’s importance among wide public and youth, held in the town of Smolyan, the following will be on 27th June in Plovdiv with the kind support of the Regional Ethnographic museum – Plovdiv.
This year also marks the 20th anniversary of signing the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
