‘Implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage’
According to the implementation of the Work Plan for 2015, approved by the General Assembly of the Association (March 10, 2015), the Regional Centre for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in South-Eastern Europe under the auspices of UNESCO jointly with the host country has started preparations for holding training workshops scheduled for 14 to 18 September 2015 in Tirana, Albania, and for 13 to 17 October 2015 in Skopje, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
These seminars are organized in the context of the UNESCO capacity-building strategy for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. The Regional Centre plans to contribute to their organization every year in different Member State. On the last session of the General Assembly, Albania and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia expressed their willingness to host such workshops.
The objective is to enhance the understanding of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003), to present the basic principles and concepts of the Convention and its Operational Guidelines, and to discuss policies and practices for its implementation at national level.
